AI answers change. Providers update models and search behavior, and the same question can produce a different shortlist from one week to the next. A single snapshot tells you where you stand today. Regular snapshots tell you whether that position is stable, improving or slipping — and whether it moved after your team shipped a change.
Set up the daily schedule
On a paid plan, snapshots run once a day. You turn the schedule on or off and choose the hour it runs. The daily frequency comes with the plan, so there is no hourly, weekly or custom cadence to configure. Free Scan is a single one-time snapshot.

How a snapshot works
A snapshot records answers to your saved questions from the selected models. Each result belongs to a particular question, model and point in time. Together, those answers describe your brand’s visibility within that scope.
Read more in our methodology and in measurement without system prompts.
- Set the scope. Choose questions relevant to your market, language and buyers, then select the models you want to monitor.
- Collect the answers. Questions are sent separately to the selected models. The measurement request does not add instructions asking a model to favor your brand.
- Analyze what appeared. ShareOfAsk identifies brand mentions, competitive context and cited sources. The recorded answer remains available for you to inspect.
Frequency and history by plan
Question limits apply across your organization, so Growth’s 100 questions are shared across its workspaces. Current prices and allowances are on the pricing page.

What you can track over time
In the Visibility view you track AI Presence — the percentage of measured answers that mention your brand — and competitive share of voice, your brand’s share of the brand mentions included in the analysis. Both break down by question and model, and repeated snapshots show how the pattern changes.
Alongside the numbers, every snapshot keeps the evidence: the original answers, the competitors that appeared and the sources that were cited. When a result moves, you can open the answers behind it instead of guessing. For a practical cadence, see LLM answer monitoring: what to track weekly vs monthly.

Example data
Same questions and models in every snapshot, with 6 measured answers each. The bars show variation, not an improvement.
Make snapshots comparable
Repeated snapshots help you see whether a pattern persists. Keep the setup stable so changes in the measurement are easier to interpret:
- Keep questions and models consistent. Review changes to wording, language or the selected models before attributing movement to your marketing work.
- Match the scope. Compare the same period, filters and included brands. Changing the brand pool can change competitive share of voice.
- Look at the counts. A percentage based on fewer successful answers deserves different weight. Inspect the underlying answers when a result moves sharply.
- Keep a record of your changes. Note the work your team completed and compare later findings with it.
An observed improvement is useful evidence to investigate. It does not establish that one content change caused it.
Snapshots and action analyses are different
A snapshot collects a new set of model answers. An action analysis uses evidence and further research to produce a set of prioritized actions. Paid plans include daily snapshots. Action analyses have separate allowances: Starter includes 1 per month, Growth up to 4 per workspace, capped at 12 per organization. See how Actions works.
Start with a one-time Free Scan
Not ready for daily monitoring? Free Scan checks 10 questions across 3 AI models and includes one action analysis. It is a one-time scan. You can review and share the results for 7 days, then move to a paid plan when you want daily monitoring.
FAQ
How often does ShareOfAsk take a snapshot of AI answers?
Free Scan is a single one-time snapshot. Starter, Growth and Enterprise run one snapshot a day. You switch the schedule on or off and set the hour. There is no custom frequency.
How long is snapshot history kept?
Free Scan results are available for 7 days. Starter keeps 12 months of history, Growth keeps full history and Enterprise is custom.
What happens when a model request fails?
A failed request is missing data, not evidence that your brand was absent. Response-based percentages use the measured answers available in their scope, so check completion and the underlying counts before comparing results.
Will I see the same answer in a consumer AI app?
Not necessarily. ShareOfAsk measures responses through configured provider integrations. A consumer session can use different model versions, search settings, location, personalization or conversation history. Treat a snapshot as a recorded observation of its own setup.
Are daily snapshots and action analyses the same thing?
No. A snapshot collects a new set of model answers. An action analysis uses evidence and further research to produce actions. Paid plans include daily snapshots. Action analyses have separate allowances.
